PALMECENTER’S DUTY TO PROVIDE INFORMATION

According to the Electronic Communications Act (2003:389), which has been in force since 2003, when using a website that uses cookies and handles personal data, a user must be informed whether and how the website uses cookies. You, as a user, still have the option to prevent the use of cookies. If you do not want to accept cookies, you can change the settings in your browser to prevent the use of cookies. However, blocking cookies may affect the user’s experience of the website. The website also collects personal data. These are processed by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with the Swedish Data Protection Authority as the supervisory authority, which is described in more detail below under ”Processing of personal data”. By using the website, you agree to the use of cookies. Should you wish to withdraw your consent, you can also adjust your settings in the browser afterwards.

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

A cookie is a small text file stored on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are used to track user activities on a website.

There are different types of cookies used on websites. The cookies listed below are those used here on this website.

”Session cookies” are temporary cookies that are only active for as long as you are using your browser but disappear immediately after the browser is closed.

”Persistent cookies” are stored as a file on your device and remain even after the browser has been closed, but they have a pre-specified expiration date. Furthermore, the user can manually delete permanent cookies from their device. Permanent cookies enable the website to identify the user when returning to the website.

”First-party cookies” are cookies with the same domain name user as the website, meaning that this website sets the cookie.

HOW ARE COOKIES USED ON THE PALME CENTER'S WEBSITE?

The Palme Center uses cookies necessary to improve the user’s experience by facilitating navigation on the website and adapting the content to the user.

Session cookies help us track and recognize your browser. This means, for example, that you will return to the previous page if you click on the ”previous page” button in your browser. Session cookies are not stored permanently on your computer but disappear when you close your browser.

Permanent cookies allow the website to recognize you on a return visit and are used, for example, to display certain messages only once.

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force on May 25, 2018, throughout the EU, including Sweden.

GDPR replaced the Swedish Personal Data Act (PUL) and tightened the requirements for how your personal data may be processed. Personal data is any information directly or indirectly attributed to a natural person. Typically, this includes name, address, and contact details, but it can also include other information or pictures.

The Palme Center registers and saves information that you provide to us, for example, in connection with your project involvement, when you subscribe to our newsletter, or when you give us a gift.

You are welcome to contact us if you have questions about how we handle your personal data, want to know what information we have stored about you or if you want something changed or deleted.
